Melaza Lake
Molasses, acrylics Native American hunting arrows & sheetrock wall.
2021

This artwork represents decades of environmental intervention and neglect by the sugar industry, which has blatantly misrepresented and manipulated the future and health of the vast Everglades ecosystem. A drawing using molasses as the pigment of the iconic sugar refinery building located in Brooklyn sleeps over a pattern first created by the Seminole tribe and well known for its meaning of disagreement.
